TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS

Transportation systems and the mobility of people and goods are the lifelines for a city. Due to high-volume of use by vehicles and passengers, infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and tracks that run above, below and near potential targets for terrorism, and the important role they play in the economics of a city requires that they be protected in the iaMedium manner as key buildings and public venues.

Critical infrastructure must be monitored through the use of surveillance and sensor systems to detect suspicious activity and the presence of nuclear, radiological, explosive or other type of hazardous materials. To maximize the effectiveness of these systems requires IA's sensors and Computer-Aided Trace Detection System to be located at entry points of bus terminals and stops, train stations and platforms, subway stops, toll booths, cruise ports, bridge crossings and at tunnels to be able to identify and communicate with IA's Incident Video Synchronization System (IVSS) system to intercept suspects during the planning stage before they can cause catastrophic damage.

IA's iaMedium is one aspect of IA's layered surveillance and detection system to track suspicious activities. iaMedium links to the IVSS allowing for the interception of suspicious vehicles or people prior to reaching areas with high vulnerability. Radiation detectors, iaMedium terminals, manned checkpoints with video surveillance and IVSS provide a security barrier to diminish the vulnerability of soft target opportunities.

The deployment of the iaMedium system inside rail and subway cars as well as buses increases the effectiveness of the monitoring system by tracking passengers as they move from a one location to the next. iaMedium also provides a system for public officials to address citizens during emergencies giving instructions and alternative routes to minimize traffic to effected areas and steer people out of harms way.
