First Responder Position Trakking System

The InfrAegis' (Ia) First Responder Position Trakking System creates an ultra-wideband-based (UWB) network within a building that can locate a first responder or object within a building in three dimensions in real time.

The First Responder Position Trakking system creates a self-forming network. This emergency signaling network uses a combination of both ultra-low and ultra-high frequencies, UWB network, and fine digital modulation technology to communicate the time and angle of arrival for each first responder, allowing them to be located using xyz coordinates within the structure.

This system is user defined and can be scaled to the application—from one person in a single room to very large facilities with multiple individuals—depending on the complexity and scope of the site.

The UWB pulses determine the exact location of each first responder based on the time difference and angle of arrival. The sensors have an array of four UWB receivers, enabling the time and angle of arrival to be calculated with a high degree of accuracy.

Use of UWB technology overcomes limitations of location systems based on conventional radio-frequency technology, which work poorly indoors because the reflection of signals off walls, desks, people, and equipment make it difficult to distinguish the direct-path signal. In contrast, UWB short-duration pulses make it easier to distinguish the correct signal, thus increasing both accuracy and reliability.

The system can be set up in an emergency situation from outside the structure, and the antennas will self-calibrate.

The First Responder Position Trakking System can also be used when conducting forensic analysis because it can provide historic reporting and playback of a user in a defined time period.
